Check ebay. You can usually get good 8 inch table top sealers for less than that vacuum sealer you linked to.

Thanks for your reply psylocyber.
I take it as any vacuum sealer will do the job.
I would stay away from eBay for such a relatively cheap item for many reasons.
Basically, I just wanted to know if any vaccum sealer could work with Mycobags. It seems it is the case. I dont feel I need a 'PRO' sealer if I use it only a few minutes a month.
Thanks again.

Just curious, why do you prefer bags? Don't they yield less? Jars are easy enough.

You dont vacuum seal mycobags. You just need a $20-40 impluse sealer that you can buy off ebay. pillsbury, Using mycobags over jars increases spawn volume per PC run because you can cram bags in where only so many jars can fit a PC. It usually doubles the volume or more.

the machines are incapable of vacuum sealing them, the bags aren't channeled like the foodsaver bags, the impulse sealer is great for sealing them but why not use a little more and get a multi-purpose tool that you can use for sealing, vacuum storage of dried fruits and use it for the kitchen as well...

You dont need to vacuum seal mycobags just push post of that air out and seal. If you feel you can use a vacuum sealer too then spend the extra $110, but the impulse sealer is made for mycobags. Also if your sealing after PCing your better off having air in the bags for incubation.

it's incapable because of the design... the vacuum sealer is a multipurpose tool, and regardless of vacuum on the bag or not, they will reinflate, I've had plenty of experience with bags and vacuum sealers

I also believe I can benefit from the vacuum sealer for domestic purposes. Even if I never grew mushrooms, I got the part where you dont need vacuum because of the air filters built on Mycobags that will let some air in after sealing them. Since Mycobags are made of some plastic that can withstant the temperature of a pressure canner, I wondered if a cheap domestic vacuum sealers could reach the temperature required to seal them.

The device I pointed to is less than 60 $. If I buy one from eBay at 20 $, I will have to pay 15 $ in shipping, 15 $ in tolling fees (dont live in USA) and 6 $ in value added taxes. If I do the math, I think I prefer having a brand new device wich I can use for other purpose, with a full garantee, not to mention I can get a inconditional 10 days refund if I dont like it. ie (not working with Mycobags)
