Brugmansia doesn't want to flower...
    #3035580 - 08/22/04 06:50 AM (19 years, 7 months ago)

My brug is now about 1m30 high now, it's 3 years old, but never flowered... I do have a little idea of the problem, I had spidermite problems the 2 first years and the plant/shrub (plant when it was young) lost all her leaves, but regrew well each time... this summer again, because of my departure and an incompetent neighbourg, she lost all here leaves because of the lack of water, but since I have came back, she regrew very well AGAIN... But I would love to see her flower, the other brug's I cross while walking are always in flower up to october-november.. Is it reallyt the leaf problem the cause of the non-flowering? I actually thought that a stressed plant would try to flower as soon as possible, even if this wasn't voluntary...
any advice would be appreciated... thanx.

i live in se usa and my trumpets die back every winter but always sprout back, grow to about 1.5 meters and flower in the fall. try putting it in a different location and fertilizing.

Yeah have you tried fertilizing yet? Sometimes they need a little kick to get em flowering.

I do fertilize her now and then, she is in a small pot compered to her size, so I guess I should do that on a more regular basis... Should I put her somewhere where there more light or less? She get about 4-5 hours of direct sunlight and the rest of indirect sunlight...

give it more direct light.
in the wild i have noticed that sun stressed plants would flower much more abundantly than plants in shadier spots...

No!! I've seen it grow from a seed brought back from a trip to the states! It would be stupid to just chuck her away...
