Newbie Introduction and a few questions

Hello everyone ! I am really glad I found this site. There is tons of info to enjoy. Maybe too much info for a newbie ! I have been reading here for the last 2 days, and still undecided on which variety and which system I will start with. At first, I was tempted by the classic PF Tek with pint sized cakes in the Poor Man's Pod. Then discovered (in theory) grain incubation, casing techniques and plastic tents... I think I need some more reading before making a choice. Here are my questions : What is the most common strain found on the streets ? Do you think a newbie going step by step can directly jump in casings and Martha type tents ? Thanks to you all for this great place. I love it !

Hey.
This place is awesome, you can find out about anything here, there is always at least one person who can help you out with anything.
P. cubensis are the mushrooms that you will buy from your friend. They are easy to cultivate indoors.
I wish someone would have told me to skip the PF tek. Start with Rye Grain jars and case it. Grain is just as easy as pf and you will get more mushrooms and they will be more potent. Growing bulk (on hay) is very simple too and you can grow tons of mushrooms that way. Poor mans pod is alright, but you might as well buy some rubber made tubs. Forget the tents since you are just learning, growing is tubs is simple. Read tons of grow logs. Being CLEAN is key.
Welcome.
Peace-

I would start with the PF tek.

The tent is a big jump, but grin and casing are simple. They are step by step. If you mess up the first time you will be damn sure you don't the second time.

Ill give you some pointers, sInce my entire 2 year growing carear i did cakes noob style, but i perfected them. Strains like b+, eq, malabar, tc, gt, hawaian seam to do the best off cakes. I think all those mushrooms are pretty similar. Strains like the thailandss and cambos seam to not yeild as good on cakes in my expierence. Make half pint cakes, despite what people say about boiling cakes. I did this for over 2 years and would only contam if i fucked up water. Once the fully colonize dunk them over night then put em in the fruiting chamber. I totally recommend an overnight dunk before the first flush. Doing that almost ensured no less then 40-50 wet grams first flush. I would get a large rubbermade, put 2 inches of perlite on the bottom of it. Use foil to sit the cakes on. (srry these where upped before thumbs) ^ a friend ate that entire thing If you do go the cake route and have any specific questions lemme know. I recommend pftek, dunking, perlite humidity for a first timer. Super easy and hard to mess up unless you are too dirty.
-------------------- This is the only time I really feel alive.
