Cubes in horse dung.
    #3016336 - 08/17/04 11:46 PM (19 years, 7 months ago)

My yard is fertilized with horse dung and I can find cubes growing in the grass in my pasture and yard often. But, now Ive actually found some nice size shrooms growing directly from the dung. Ive never seen this before, anyone else ever find any growing from horse poo?

Its pretty rare.

Im a little suspicous of your findings. Are you positive that they are cubensis and not something else? How did you determine that the were really cubes?

its not all too common but other people have found them growing from horse dung.

'never heard of Copelandia mushrooms growing from horse dung though.

Definetly cubes, no doubt same as I find across the street in my neighbors cow pasture.

One of the best producing fields I've seen was a horse pasture. Struck me as funny when I heard it was rare.

I agree nonoman. The first field I picked this year was a horse ranch. Not a cow in site, only horses and stables. Besides, this was obviously horse shit (as opposed to cow)...it's easy to tell the difference. I found loads of both cubensis and C. cyanescans. This was in N. Florida. It's not really that rare in my area.
