Most mushrooms don't need any light to fruit. I'm not sure what the mad scientist above me is talking about but from a friends experience marijuana grows stronger under added black lighting during vegitation so mushroom may take attention to.
Note: To flamers this black light tek has not been proven but only discussed among Mj growers. Friend has proven black light to be successful among buddies. Since most growers use HID, flourescents with black light supplements aren't a concern, but will boost growth. Ok now I'm rambling.....

Explain truffle growth then psilocybe cubenis, it is totally uv less. When defining "fruit" the word means ripened and edible which in fact many mushrooms can reach without light. I believe, so because they are both fleshy and edible.......Just a thought.

i was reading a little about this last night in paul stamets book..they say that only certain mushrooms need light for primordia formation..blue light being the best like the guy above said..red light will stop primordia formation..red is the light you should use when checking colonization so you dont disturb the process..crazy stuff..if you dont have this book get it..its got more than enough information for a homegrower in it..

How about using a stobe light instead of UV?Some marijuana growers use it they claim strobe lights has a lot of 480 nanometers peaks as it flashes and the electricity bill is lower.
