terrerium humidification
    #2965083 - 08/04/04 04:01 PM (19 years, 7 months ago)

Okay, so I have a rubbermaind garbage bin, using plastic cover on the top, but I'm stuck now - I've read that I need to put perlite at the bottom, but what about humidification? Will the perlite cover this, or do I need to rig up some humidifcation device? I know, newb question.

Well what do you plan on putting in the terrerium? cakes or casings?

do casings instead, they dont need as much humidity and if done in the right size terrarium the casing itself will usually provide the right amount of humidity on it's own via the evaporation of water in the casing layer. if you wanna do lots of cakes at once they will give off enough humidity on there own. go to a thread in the grow log forum called: my magic box. this was some of my friends work. we never use any device or media to create humidity. however if i was going to use something i would use hydroton. its used in hydroponics. it all boils down to the cubic volume of your fruiting chamber and how much stuff is fruiting within the container.
p.s. i know in the pics on that thread there are humidifiers in the set up however they were actually useless. we discovered that we didn't need 'em once. there have been major changes in the design of those terrariums since those pics were taken. i'll post some new ones soon.

fungi x the air stones actually would aid in co2 removal if ya had polyfil stuffed holes just above the hydroton level making The Poor Man's Pod OP totally automated and fuctionally superior IMHO.
