Florescent lighting? Full spec vs regular florescent
    #2932794 - 07/27/04 01:48 PM (19 years, 7 months ago)

Recently I renovated my terrarium. I installed a new florescent fixture, but the new bulb is not a full spectrum. My old setup had a full spec and the casing fruited well, abundantly, and fast. My current grow is not fruiting and doing shitty. I think that the regular bulb is hindering the growth and not stimulating the mycelium to produce pins. Does anyone know about the florescent bulb dilemma?

light is not a big factor in cube growth
they only use light as an indicator of where to grow,
not to produce nutrients like plants
many people have shown the cubes can grow with as little as a few seconds exposure to light

I know that light triggers the mycelium to produce a hormone that causes it to create fruiting bodies. Fungi are decomposers and therefore do not acquire energy through light. Is it possible that the regular florescent bulb does not produce the correct spectrum to stimulated the fruiting hormone?

I never once used a full spectrum bulb, just regular flourescents. They grew dandy anyway
