ShroomyofDoomie- what in the world do you base this tuberosa theory on outside of this pic? I have a damned hard time IDing Phalaris up close & personal without having to do it in microscope. Be careful- you face both the possiblity of acute poisoning by extracting fromt he worng material and then there is ergot, which I have identified growing on all kinds of grasses. I only ask you to yeild to caution.

not the worst of advice.
-------------------- Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it. If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

it is always fun to identify plants (phalaris is a tough one, TOO many look alikes and wimpy strains growing if you really ID it) but i wouldn't ever recommend you to use it to work with because it's not worth, one has to process a whole caw bellyfull of material for a couple or so N,N molecules....
concrete: once i thought i have seen a claviceps fruit growing around some grasses on a caw field (hunting mushrooms), i didn't know they would grow around most grasses and even fruit there (small slimy fruit - ascocarps?)... too bad i had no camera at that time, that would be the heck of a pic.

The ones in the top pic are taller than me so about 6ft I'll go look for info on IDing Tuberosa for myself but would you have any tips? This picture is in Langley, British Columbia by the way - up in the frozen north

here in brazil i have found some that look like the one in your second picture, which i thought to be p. tuberosa by the time i was into this plant. actually i remembered now finding some other ones that were very similar in 'body shape', except for the flowers too, i thought that was the real aruindacea but it was years after i gave up this plant. but nothing i say is for sure, i'm not professional in the area.

Ummmm yeah.
I grow tubera, aquatica, and arundinacea, i can't tell by the pic what that grass is, there's many many many many grasses and many many many of them look alike, many ornamental and non ornamental grasses will throw out fruits like those that are seen in the top pic.
That pic is no where near close enough to identify, and even if most people had the grass in their hand they'd still not be able to identify it.
My advice, don't waste your time cutting it down, and even if it was real, don't waste your time with it.
