Phish: really done for good?

Who thinks in a few years they might do some select shows or even another tour at some point in the future? I'm sure they are done for good, I am just having a really hard time thinking about the fact that I have only seen them 3 times (just started to get my feet wet) and will never see them again. I guess it won't be as bad once this tour is over, beacuse it just sucks knowing that I AM MISSING FUCKING COVENTRY. Oh well.....any thoughts?

I think it's a good move. I just hope if they start feeling it again in a decade or anytime they aren't scared to bust it back out for some chicken shit reason about the way they went out.

I hate to say it, but I think they're done. I think Trey's band is pretty good though, and look forward to seeing them tour in the future. It's definately a different sound that Phish, but I really like it. Good brass section and stuff!

Yeah I like Trey's band a lot but I hope he does some more exploring and starts a band similar to Phish. Sometimes Trey's band is too "fluffy " for my taste if you know what I mean. Damn I'm still really bummed about Phish. If those 2 Alpine shows hadn't been so stellar then I wouldn't care as much. But goddam they still got it! Too bad they're throwing in the towel.

I had a real problem with trying to accept this when I first heard the news. I was devastated. Found out after getting home from work. A day at work during which I spent a lot of time sharing excitement about the upcoming summer shows. Then, BAM! It's over. More recently, I have been able to come to terms with it, however. I know that the magic that existed pre-hiatus doesn't exist like it used to. Sure, there are magical moments and amazing jams still, but it isn't the same. Something is different. The scene has changed. Now, I haven't neccesarily experienced all of this first hand, but I think you can tell. If that isn't proof, talk to a lot of people who used to see them in the early and mid-90's. Knowing that, and knowing I am too young to have really seen them in what many consider their "prime" kind of bothers me. I can't help but be extremely thankful for the memorable shows I have seen though. My favorite part of the past year, out of any part of my entire laugh, were four of the nights I spent in Miami this winter. Miami had magic. What a blast. In the end, I guess you just really have to respect their decision. I think they are ending it an extremely respectable way. More power to them. I certainly would rather it end like this than in a way similar to the end of the Grateful Dead's career. We'll all just have to move on with our lives. Live on through the music and take the time to explore more music, now that our main focus has been taken away. Personally, I can't wait to have money to finally get to Telluride this next year. And besides, the reunion shows in 5 or 10 years will be a fucking blast!!
