I've been in Japan (aichi prefecture) for a few months now. The rainy season officially ended today, and despite a few serious hunts i've barely seen a mushroom of any kind. The temps are so high at the moment, any rain seems to evaporate before it hits the ground... I suspect the real shroom action should begin towards the end of summer, when the temps start to cool. Good luck though... the more time you spend looking, the better your chances... Check local parks, woodchip gardens,
areas of rank grass and natural evergreen forests, and that should cover most habitats!
Good Luck,
Jim
