Psilocybe azurescens indoors??? * 2
    #28630852 - 01/22/24 09:57 AM (3 months, 24 days ago)

Ok. I put this idea together. I used 75% coarse wood dust I got from a saw mill. Mostly oak and maple. I soaked in gypsum water over night, boiled that, drained and added to that 10% barley,10% vermiculite, and 5% brown rice flower. Put in bags and pc'd for 2 hours and 45 min at 15psi. It was inoculated with l.c. And mixed up. I put it into several of the black trays and left them in my basement (50 degrees F) for about 2 months. What you see is the only one that has hyphae forming. My question is should I just not touch it or does it need some more fae?
I've looked and looked, I'm not seeing anything much of Use for indoor cultivation.
Any help would be appreciated!!! Stay good, or good at it!

I would have let it colonize at a warmer temp, then introduced to cooler temps to induce fruiting.

At this point, I would just wait it out to see what happens.

Really? I had one in my Martha. It did nothing. Maybe too warm? I'm just going to let it go. I'll post pics as things progress.
Worst case I can use it as spawn for a garden grow.

I was actually thinking of getting one of those wine chillers to do azures in. They have one that goes from 35f degrees to 61f was thinking I could modify the thermostat and set it up for cooler climate mushies.

Ive wondered if you can fruit cold-species inside a mini fridge. Never tried it but sounds plausable

I can't remember where I saw someone doing it, I think fb. Someone was using a wine cooler to do it and had good success.

We've got a lot of years of woodlover knowledge over here:

The Official Woodlovers Thread

I will say in my experience and from what I've been able to observe from other grows, woodloving psilocybes do not like gormet style growing.  They like growing on wood chips.  Not sawdust, not shavings, but chunky chips.  Supplementing has always appeared to have no to negative impact on them, they really just seem to like chips.

I grew them in my garage a couple winters ago, and psilocybe cyanescens.
They both did well in 5 lb sawdust&woodchip blocks. I found out I don't do well with most woodlovers that year, experientally, but it can be done at the appropriate temps.

They probably grow to the climate of outer space is why you don't see any indoor ops of woodlovers

In my experience, they colonie sawdust readily -- much more quickly than chips. They just don't really like to fruit off sawdust. I let a tub of sawdust colonize indoors, then add a layer of wood chips, let that colonize, then introduce.to appropriate fruiting temps. This way there aren't any pockets for side pins that are hard to access and all the fruits will occur on top, on the chips.

You can even get Section Cyanescens to fruit in the late winter and early spring this way, after colonizing indoors over the winter.

I was thinking about this, like taking plants from 20h per day inside, outside, and they flower if it's before late may(us pnw)
And wanted to take a tote outside as soon as it stops freezing
