Adding MAOI to substrate?
    #2842293 - 06/30/04 01:26 AM (19 years, 8 months ago)

I have read that MAOIs greatly increase a trip, and I was wondering would it work if someone added this to a substrate(ie. poo) and then spawned with colonized grain?

Monoamine oxidase inhibitors, MAOIs, influence the activity of tryptamines by, get this, inhibiting the production of Monoamine oxidase. For those with a basic grasp of (bio)chemical nomenclature the suffix "ase" should point you in the right direction for an explaination. Monoamine oxidase is an enzyme produced in the human body, specifically, and please forgive and correct me if this little bit is off, in our saliva. Incidentally, Monoamine oxidase is responsible for the oral inactivity of DMT. This is why, as any true blue neo-brujo could tell you, ayahuasca contains both DMT and an MAOI. I believe that the lack of Monoamine oxidase in canine saliva is the reason for their inability to digest chocolate.

No fungus I'm familiar with produces Monoamine oxidase. Hence, nothing to inhibit.

I believe MAO is only present in the synapses
