Well the rain is finally upon us once again, and would like to know what other shrooms are common to the Gainesville area besides psilocybin cubensis-- I have no heard of many people finding any other species.

Liberty caps do not grow in Florida.
Other active mushrooms in that area are Copelandia cyanescens and Gymnopilius species mushrooms. I'll let you google those mushrooms to find out where they grow and all that good stuff.

From my experience and from what others tell me, Cubes are by far the most common. If you are interested in finding any, i would mostly worry about them.

Are they as common the further north you go? I've been looking far and wide for cyans in South Georgia and North Florida to no avail. The cubes are ever present though.

I've found both P. cubensis & Pan cyanescens in Gainesville.
For the most part, Copelandia's grow great in southern florida (along with Cubes), and the distribution of Coplandia (from what ive seen) seems to thin-down in Central Florida and even thinner when you go towards Jacksonville. The Copelandia's thicken as you head towards the Panhandle becoming most productive near Pensacola (compared to the rest of the panhandle).
The Copelandia also grow good in the southern portions of Alabama Mississippi Louisianna and south-eastern Texas.

I found some what i think are blue meanies they are white around the edges coming to a light brown in the middle ,and they fall apart easy. My field is in central florida near the coast like horse shoe beach.
I know these are not cube's

I picked fields from ocala, north to gainesville, west to jonesville.
I only found cubensis. I never picked a copelandia in any of these areas over a four year period from 1993- 1996. I heard of them being picked, I just never found one.
Cubensis are everywhere throughout that region.

Hey you, Teonan! Your pickin my fields in jonesville! hehe like 80% of all my fields are in jonesville.
Around here I have found TONS of cubensis, and last night I found a few Pan cyans. I don't know about the cyans being more common around here, there seems to by many more cubes then cyans around this area where I hunt.
