hey omc
since i got a real hard time finding aged manure, i plan upon doing a straw only bulk and wonder what the disadvantages due to the missing manure would be?
such as less, or smaller fruits? hope for input

you can do a bulk grow with "straw" you can do a bulk grow with "manure" you can do a bulk grow with "straw & Manure"
All three can produce "Monsters". As for the disadvantages of not having the manure goes, what disadvantages?Straw is great by itself. My rooster has a Straw only bulk going right now. I personally dont see any disadvantages, besides less nutrients being added, but straw is great by itself.
With manure you can get more flushes than just straw alone,so that would be the only downside that I'm aware of.
My 2 Cents

Advantages = Bigger fruits, huge first flush, less contams.
Disadvantages = Crap second and third flushes, and though the fruits are bigger its all water content.
I like plain straw as a fast turn over cropping system, but i preffer 10% poo or multipurpose compost for longer croping trays.
Hope that helps, as thats my experiances using both.

thank u for both posts, i decided i will use the straw as is with some pod soil mixed under it, since the pod soil is very ritch on nutes, it will be pasteurized along with the straw.
what do u think of this 'manure-replacement' ?

I think you will be ok, i preffer compost to soil though, as it has more fibre still, some soild are quite loamy and not as good for fungi. Multipurpose compost can be found in most areas, and is quite fiberous. I preffer to stay away from peat based compost, as its very acidic.
Gypsy, if you want to break them up and spawn them to straw, I would do one cake per tray, so you need about 4 or 5 liters of pasturised straw to two cakes imo.

Once you use dung, you wont want to use anything else.It produces some monsters. Manure is "The Chit"! IMO

sweet, Im on day 6 of waiting for pinning on my first 5 dung casings, things are looking good, can't wait to see those monsters.
All I've ever heard around here was lots of straw plus a little dung, so I assumed that it was preferred to straight dung.

It doesnt colonise as quickly as straw does but its pretty quick(given the right parameters). Cubes fruit from straight poo-no casing is needed, but you may want a second opinion on this.
