Using extra spores to speed jar colonization
    #2671614 - 05/12/04 11:19 PM (19 years, 11 months ago)

I am have heard of the practice of using extra spore syringe fluid to speed mycilum growth. But can you make a syringe with more spores than normal in the solution, say an entire spore print, and inject a normal 2 ccs per jar?

thats a total waste of spores... be patient... rule #2 is be patient (rule #1 being dont listen to me and bow to mushroom john)... so what if its colonizing the same slow rate... at least your gonna have a buncha shrooms when that shits grown out!!! the longer you wait the more relieved your gonna be when your popping a few caps chilling on your couch saying "this is the good life"

I want it to colonize fast because there is less of a chance of contaminations starting.

So, does extra syringe fluid at the normal concentration help speed colonization? How much extra solution would be the maximum to add?

The more spore solution you use, the more inocculation points, so yes. It may be faster. Too much could get your substrate too wet, however.

use about a square centimeter of the spore print and inject no more than half a CC per hole. More helps very little. I did an experment, I tried inocculating two jars in one hole only while the others got in 3 holes. the 3 holes finished like 3 days earlier. if you are so impatious, just cook up a new batch every week
