Does anyone know of any 60score trippy-hippy music that's good to shroom to? I'm thinking like... african drums and steel guitars... like Sabbath's "Planet Caravan".
Thaaanks.

Definitely early Santana... And Quicksilver Messenger Service...
I dunno this Sabbath song that you gave as a reference, so I just have to go on a whim, and say...
the Grateful Dead!!!
Download a Dark Star -> St Stephen from 1971 , that's my favorite music to trip to.

Simon and Garfunkel! They've got something to suit every mood! Feelin' groovey is the nicest, gentlest song perhaps ever, definitely good for trips. Other songs like America or Mrs Robinson are really rich sounding too, they're sure to bring out emotions.

Wow! Thanks for the replies!
Finding music when tripping was hard for me because I only have Death, Doom and Black Metal, as well as some Punk and Grindcore in my collection. I'm going to check out all these bands...
I really want to hear The Grateful Dead now... and some Love... they've been recommended to me too. I just found out that Yellow Submarine is amazing and probably good for tripping!
Thanks all.

Well it's not really on the same lines as Black Metal, but here are some links to very good shows you can download: May 8th, 1977 - this is one of my favorite shows... And here is one of my favorite songs from this show (well it's really two songs in one!)
June 7th, 1969 - here is another good show (one of the early ones!)
And Dark Star - a very famous Dead song... trippy as trippy gets!
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the Grateful Dead help! This is soooo great.
I've been listening to Jefferson Airplane all day! I think I'm going to buy Surrealistic Pillow... too good. Also checked out some early Santana and some Love... hippies rule.
Thanks all!!

Definetely try Country Joe and the Fish, they're a great 60's psychedelic jam kinda band. I'm surprised no one has recommended them. Some of the best songs for listening to while in a certain state of mind are:
Colours for Susan Deathsound Blues Electric Music for the Mind and Body Eastern Jam Martha Lorraine The Masked Marauder
Sorry I don't have any album names, I just got these in a compilation disc from a friend Great music, though.

- Love - Superbird - Rock and soul music - Section 43 Great music!
http://www.well.com/~cjfish/song.htm that's a handy website. They were the world's first protest-song singing band, if I'm not mistaking.

Thanks for the advice. I'll look out for all those acts, but I haven't got a minidisc.
This board has helped me out a lot over the past few days concerning music, and I found a whole new legion of psychedelic bands that I love!! Thanks all!
Yesterday I listened to Cathedral (ultra-heavy Doom Metal), Darkthrone (Norweigan Black Metal ), then The Beatles, then Jefferson Airplane and finally, some Black Sabbath and Cream. haha, I'm loving listening to such ecceltic mixes.
And next time I get shrooms, I'll have loads of freak-out music to trip to

I know it doesn't exactly fit the "African drums and steel guitar" catagory but most Pink Floyd would suit I think. I've not tried tripping with it yet, some of it would be just too intense probably but A Saucerful of Secrets is trippy as anything! One of my favourite albums, released in 1968 I think, so it falls into the decade you're after . Set The Controls For The Heart of The Sun is just amazing. And you can't go wrong with an album boasting a kazoo solo or two!
