How do you prepare your millet jars? Exactly! 1

Hey there,
I'm having so much difficulties preparing millet jars. I just can't get the good water ratio or cook effectively. So far, I've screwed at least 12 quarts worth of millet and before I give it a try again, i want to be really sure i'm doing it right.
So i'm looking for answers from people who already worked with 100% millet jars. Do not give me any WBS or other grain recipe telling me it will work the same, it won't.
And please don't link me to the faq section because I already tried this. Just tell me how *YOU* prepare your 100% millet jars.
Thanks
.fs.

Well, WBS is 90% millet. Soak your millet 24 hours... rinse... drain for 30 minutes... put it in jars 3/4 full... pc for 75 minutes... you're good to go. Are you sure you have the correct type of millet? Without hulls, millet gets clumpy like white rice.

Well this is my millet. That's the only kind of millet I was able to find anyway. Is that the right stuff?

I put the millet in a container, boil up some water, pour the water in the container with the millet and let soak for 20-24 hours (i also add some H2O2). Then i microwave for 6 min. with 2 min. incraments. Stir after each 2 min.
Then i just strain, let gravity do its thing. I do a couple shakes and whatnot to get as much water as i can to strain. I leave it in the strainer then i make my jars using a spoon, a silver spoon that is (want me to be exact dont ya? )
After filling the jars i put polyfill ontop, and poke four wholes on the tops. I steam for an hour and there rdy to be innoculated 4-6 hours later.
By the way, ive been having a 100% no contam rate doing this method. Done 24 jars total, 2 grows... 0 contams.
oh yea and i only use 1/2 pint jars.

Hey Fish,
That looks like hulled millet.... correct?
You may want to try non hulled if you can get hold of it.
PS Also try Starter's millet recipe's, my friend's been having good luck with those so far.

what i normally do is soak overnight for 16-24 hours, then give it a good rinse, strain well...
what i do next is i simmer them in spring water for 15 min, mixing frequently.
then i strain and rinse again... and load up my quarts 3/4 of the way.
PC them up, and inoculate when cool
never had an issue

Optx's easy WBS prep with no contams coming from the WBS. Put wbs in a big pot and add hot water. Stir so sunflower seeds float up to the top; skim off sunflower seeds and throw away. Rinse/drain 3 times. Cover pot and let sit for 24 hours.
Rinse WBS off 3 more times to remove bacterial endospores and some starches. Simmer in low boil for 10-15 minutes. After simmering, rinse until water runs clear. Dry THOROUGHLY - usually 3 hours or so. If you can spare a window screen, that is perfect. Load up jars and PC for 90minutes at 15psi.

Good eye!~
I caught that too.
I wouldn't use millet that the hull has been removed from...personally.
un hulled millet is my favorite grain.
