Can anyboy help me ID these? i live in california and they came up in my backyard after a few days of rain.

What were they growing from/on? It would also help if the photos were of fresh specimens rather than dried out ones. Since the photos don't show us some things, you should describe them (as it says in th esticky thread at the top of the forum).

Given the spore print color and general appearance, my first thought is that those are Agrocybes. A bit more description would help clear things up.

Those look like a type of Panaeolina mushroom possibly.. what color was the spore print?

From the looks of it I would guess Foenisecci...

Can't tell if the cap is as dryed as the stem...

Usually Subbalteatus will have thicker stems than Foenisecci...

I cannot really tell the color with this monitor, as its distorted, but the spores look black over here.

Panaeolina spores are unmistakenly brown though. I had my yard covered in them a few times.

because we are looking at a digital photo which, while not being of incredibly poor quality, is not of the greatest, and would be rather subjective anyway, i will say that the print is most likely black, brown, purplish-brown or reddish-brown. [with my personal opinion leaning towards brown-reddish brown. if it is reddish brown the stature and profile would suggest Pan. foenisecii as a likely candidate and if it is dark brown or so but with a cinimon[ish] tint i would guess [as ToxicMan has] that the genus would Agrocybe.

this is not intended to lead anyone looking for mushrooms to acociate any redish brown prints with this genus per-se, as mistakes subtle variances in print color with lbms can be extremely dangerous [not that i can think of any reason to eat any agrocybe anyway, i just feel the need to make disclaimers].
