Flow hood suggestions

I'm in the market for a laminar flow hood. I've budgeted 650, but I'm not going to lose sleep over a few bucks. Any advice for where to purchase from or what brands to keep any eye out for?

This thread was moved from Advanced Mycology.
Reason: Look up a tek and make one yourself for under 200 Or go on eBay and spend less than 300 for something already put together.

Apologies for miscategorizing the post; figured there wasn't much need for flow boxes in general cultivation.
Everything I've found on eBay has been 600+ and as I have zero knowledge on brands, or what to look for, I was nervous on pulling the trigger without some advice from those that know better. I had considered making one myself, but decided between a hepa filter and a blower capable of producing true laminar flow I'd be at two thirds the cost of buying a prefabbed one with no guarantee it would function correctly.
Am I overestimating the amount of precision work in setting one up? Are there cheaper commercial ones out there that I'm just not finding?
Any pushes in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

lol'd from Bod's slip there. I have the smallest FH from fungi perfecti and I fuck with it heavy, but that's bc I'm too new to mycology to add another variable (as in "does the fh I built work?")
It's roughly in your price range but maybe check ebay
EDIT: but FUNGA ^^ is right. It isn't technically challenging or anything. I'd just get into my own head. I plan on building a large fh one day

I bought this flow hood and it is a dream. It's huge as fuck though the pic makes it look small it's the size of a large mini fridge. But it's fantastic it has two fan speeds a reg led light and a sterilization uv light. I have to say thumbs up on this product.

$200-$300 for a complete flowhood build is pretty unrealistic. I have built 3 and the cheapest one (which I got a free blower for) costed about $300.
Fungi perfecti has prebuilt flowhoods. The smallest is a 24" x 12" and costs around $700 with shipping. My advice is to decide what size your space is capable of and what your goals are with the equipment. If your interest is inoculating spawn bags or supplemented blocks, you will want a minimum size of 24" x 24" for your filter. Bags can be done with a smaller flowhood but it is a big pain in the ass, and takes much longer due to the space restrictions.
If you are crafty, or have a trustworthy friend who is, you could build a nice 24" x 24" flowhood with your budget. It is easiest to build the cabinet out of 3/4" plywood as there is no internal framing necessary. I took apart a FP flowhood a couple years ago and found it to have internal 1x1 framing clad in 1/4" ply, which is how I built my 24" x 48" unit (it is a much lighter build, but more difficult to pull off).
Sometimes you can find old lab hoods on craigies - but as with anything on the classifieds the condition is a crapshoot. I have had a couple friends go that route and they seem happy though, so don't let me dissuade you
If you do decide to build a hood, there are many actually helpful members who can help you along the way. It seems complicated at first undertaking the project but once you get going things will fall into place.
A little porn for inspiration...

Yeah, I have a flow hood. And then I look at this and see that I'm doing it all wrong. Goddamn, that is sweet.

So are there any more people with experience of the Sugold manufactured HD-650 type Horizontal Laminar Flow Hoods? e.g. https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Class-100-Desktop-mini-laminar-flow_1752032823.html?spm=a2700.7724838.2017115.1.3c38235cdnif7Y&s=p
What rating is the HEPA filter, and are they reliable etc?

650$ is more than enough to pimp it out. I bought a 2ft x 4ft dual fan, pre filtered, hepa module off ebay lightly used for 345$ shipped. Then bought a Harbor Freight 4ft workbench to plop that sucker on top of, less than 100$. Workbench has 2 drawers, a full size bottom shelf, a black surface that is great backdrop for viewing mycelium, and a built in 3 plug power supply. Pimp AF workstation thats super easy (ok the bench did have a zillion screws to assemble) for less than 450$ All my myco friends are super jelly.
Granted my hepa module was used but I've poured several sleeves in front of it and none have contaminated from the pour. With a 550$ budget you should be in new 2x4 hepa module territory, if used is a turn off.

I see a post on here a few days back about modded ffu filters. I'm liking the idea of them. Just a case of building a collar around the filter.
