Agar: less nutes but less rhizo? (Pics)
    #24812534 - 11/28/17 05:59 PM (6 years, 3 months ago)

I isolated what I presume to be cubensis myc, presumably cube as how it grows on grain. However on agar it looks nothing like in cube. It turned rhizo when it got bacterial and after I cleaned it up it was back to looking whispy. I made grocery tek agar and halved the concentration, expecting it turn rhizo but it got thinner instead. I thought less nutes equals rhizo? How do I get rhizo? What's going on?

I haven't fruited yet but have grain spawn at 80% colonization.

This is not what I started with but close.

It got rhizo when it got bacterial

Here it is after I cleaned (antibio) it in grains. Very rhizo.

Actual plate. Not  whispy.

Half concentration. Can barely see it.

It starving that's why you barely see it. I have always got rizo only on strong agar recipes so try making a strong recipe again and see what happens.
No one seems to know exactly what's up with rizo and nutrients but some members will tell you stuff that they heard others say but that doesn't make any sense.
"Like low nutes often  cause rizo". But I've never heard anyone say "high nutrient grains often cause rizo" which almost always is the case so don't expect a satisfying answer
