Lions mane on maple

Today I made my first attempt at inoculation of logs, well larger prunings.
I used a 3/8" drill bit and drilled holes about 2" deep. I put a small (1-2 cc) amount of lions mane brf cake in each hole and sealed the holes with rtv silicone. Now to wait 2-7 years.

My biggest concern is that the off-gas from the curing silicone will poison and kill the lions mane

The logs are as pictured, resting against my fence where they will be misted by my irrigation system every second day.

If anyone has tips or suggestions about this project or links I should have read by now. Please let me know.

I have access to a large amount  of cherry wood, mostly from dormant  (winter) cuts.
I'm pretty sure shitake would grow on it but is there anything else that grows well on cherry logs? Should I try lions mane?
