breaking up myco bags to speed things up
    #2453664 - 03/20/04 06:23 AM (20 years, 3 days ago)

i know i should break up a bag after i knock it up to spread the spores around but once it is like 25 or 50% colonized should i break up the myc. and try to spread it around or should i just let it go and do it's thing?

some people do it at 20% and again at 80%... I only do it once at 20%, and the bag really takes off after you spread the myc around.

considering the amount of substrate its very fast... 2 weeks to full colonization on quite a few bags granola did

hmmmm, ok well i thought these were the answer's i would get so let me tell you what happened now. I am using grain based myco bags (the strain is pesa) and the bag was about 15-20% coln. So i broke up the myc. inside and moved it around the bag. well now (about a week later) i haven't seen any more growth out of that bag. I know the water content is good(i can see some droplets on the inside of bag) and the temp in my incubator stays around 80-84. the bag i didn't break up (same strain/knocked up on the same day) is around 50-60 coln. now. So i am asking myself what the hell happened........any ideas any one?
