too much humidity for fruitbodies : what to do ?
    #2450688 - 03/19/04 05:18 AM (20 years, 4 days ago)

Hello so this friend has two trays of cased rye that have pinheads already (not much thought)and some start to develop but very slowly because there is probably too much humidity in the terrarium, around 97 to 98 % it's a terrarium with no perlite or humidificator and little holes in the sides for gas exchange but apparently only the evaporation of the casings is enough to bring the humidity to this level which is too much according to TMC and all the litterature. What will happen if they stay in this moist ? Anybody has a solution to my friend's problem?

you could also try not leaving the lid all the way on, like leaving one of the corners just resting a little bit off

My chamber has a cool mist running 24/7 with a ultrasonic comming on every few hours.

I always keep the humidity high, 95 to 98% cause caseings are always comming in at different times. Never seen it as a problem.

wow, nice really ! I wish my friend's casings would look like this ! actually tonight fanning them he noticed some mycelium growing on the caps, that's caused by the humidity no ? I'll try for the lid slightly off...
