Anyone else take them? Do they make you feel better?
Reminds me of seroquel. I feel numb and hollow, empty inside. Sedated.
But hey my Bp is down so guess they work wonders.

Hey I had a lot of success using beta blockers for anxiety during exams and presenting in my engineering program. I was taking halves of 30mg propranol so the sedating effects weren't too strong. I would only take them when necessary probably 2 - 5 times a month depending if it was the end of a semester or not.
Note: I was also occasionally combining it with kratom with good anxiety free results.

New antipsychotics are actually very impressive just how many different receptors they can antagonize. They also are antagonist of adrenaline receptors.

I was on atenolol for a short time while my heart rate was elevated. It worked, but past that it didn't make me feel any different. There are other options for high BP that work differently If you feel too chilled out. You could try ACE inhibitors.

They're good for not feeling your chest beat in stressful moments like exams/speeches etc.

They make me feel like an inanimate object.
Getting old sucks. Great news is I've always wanted to quit smoking!
Has anyone experienced side effects with short/long term use? (Other than lowered blood pressure/anxiety)

Increased calmness, improved confidence, a 'smoother' demeanor. Beta Blockers are supposed to reduce the release of adrenaline to lessen the heart rate.
Quote:
Designed primarily as drugs improving cardiac function, under conditions of impaired cardiovascular system, the beta-blockers also exhibit calming neurological effects decreasing anxiety, nervousness and stabilizing motor performance. The improved psychomotor performance may be beneficial in sports requiring precision and accuracy such as shooting and archery. No adverse effects of beta-blockers on psychological status of an athlete were reported. Prolonged use of beta-blockers can cause fatigue and decreased motivation.

I've read that beta blockers can help a person pass a polygraph. Sure that some training would also help.

I swore them off. That was a one night thang that left me feeling wonked and not myself. Dumb doctor is taking forever to give me results from the full workup I had.
The beta blockers were there to keep me stable until they can pin point what's up.
Forget that, I can regulate my Bp with meditation and by not being around certain people. Seems to do the trick.
