These are on day seven in the chamber. Three different types, one of those seems to have pinned on two of the cakes. I noticed a little bit of a blue hint to a few of the different cakes, do I need to start panicking?

Thanks for the quick response. Pins are starting like crazy on the cakes from my more aggressive batch. I'll increase misting and see if that doesn't get rid of my blues.
My first five attempts at colonization failed. Was really frustrated following the instructions in RR's video and repeatedly didn't see any results. Finally, I switched the brand of vermiculite, and BOOM, fully colonized all my jars. I couldn't find another case of bad verm on here so maybe it was just a coincidence....
I was making one batch at a time and only giving up on the substrate after weeks of no signs of colonization, so the road on my growing journey has been long, slow, and painful. Really glad to finally see the fruits of my labor.

I will mist less. I've had some troubles with my SGFC, perhaps I put too many holes in it???? Originally, the cakes were more spread out (like 5 inches apart and taking up the whole chamber) and I noticed that the sides of the chamber were no longer moist, and when I misted the sides to keep the humidity up, it would only last for a few hours. I checked the perlite and it was damn near dry (I also missed the part in RR's video where he put the cakes on foil or lids so it was sitting directly on the perlite).
So I decided to pull the cakes out, and put them on some sterilized foil while I soaked and drained the perlite again. Now the sides keep their water droplets all day.
Here is a picture from a few moments ago - just about 27 hours after the first bunch. Last time there was only one double pin growing. How does it look? Also, how long is the life cycle once its in the fruiting chamber. I'm under the impression that you don't need to really sterilize the perlite/fruting chamber very strenuously, and I would like to get some more substrate inoculated and colonized to get a good production cycle going...

Those holes look awfully close together and there's a lot more than you need. Just keep an eye on your cakes closely because leaving your cakes to their own devices for too long will dry them out if you're not careful with that many holes.
You only need to mist when the surface moisture of your cakes evaporate. Keeping the humidity up a bit will allow your cakes to retain a lot more moisture, and make it so you have to mist less often, but with that setup I can't see you going more than 8 hours or so without misting, depending on your ambient humidity in the room your SGFC is.
The sides of your SGFC is not an indication of humidity. Just an indication of condensation. It means it's hotter in your SGFC then in is outside, so the moisture in the air will at times condense on the sides. When you mist your cakes, also try misting the sides of the SGFC as this will help keep the humidity up somewhat, but it won't make a huge difference.
Also, you should put your cakes in the center of your bin, and about an inch apart from the other. Air will flow through them evenly and provide more consistent results. Also, it's more humid in the center of the tub, than the sides right where all that fresh air is evaporating moisture.
-------------------- Don't like researching posts? Read this! . Also, if you're new and your posts contain the words: Humidifer, incubator, air-stone, or heater, then you need to read and UTFSE before asking people to review your setup. OR... You should be cultivating reptiles and fish, not mushrooms.

Thats not a proper sgfc You need 1/4 inch 2 nch grid thats looks like not that
They are shitting spores. You can let them keep growing and shitting spores or pick them either way good job. Look up a proper sgfc.

Thanks for the heads up about the SGFC.
I had no idea the amount of spores or distance they would travel.

Your SGFC is fine as long as you have holes on the bottom and top as well. Pick those mushrooms already goddammit!

I dont think its the mushrooms ability to throw the spores rather the sgfc working convecting and raising up spores.

Spores gunna spore. They are so small that they dont need an air current to blow them around. Air temperature humidity and pressure (or some other sorcery) will carry those spores up from under the cap even in a still air environment.

No.. I just think if you're going to commit to something that could ruin your life, it's good to know that it drops spores and stuff ahead of time. Not that any level of professionalism will save you in the slammer, it's still good to reflect on the fact you've been locked up for something you didn't half ass. Imagine the regret of sitting there, locked up, being like "My life is out of control, I don't even know what mushrooms ARE, why did I do this??" Having a plan of attack and knowing how the end will go before you start is how you avoid just such situations.
No offense OP. This isn't the first time I've shared this sentiment and it won't be the last. There will be many "What is this black shit??" threads in the future.
