Swirly things in the sky
    #2338544 - 02/15/04 06:55 PM (20 years, 2 months ago)

I've tried finding info on this with no luck. What the hell are those swirly things you can see when you look up in the sky? It looks like a lot of small amoeba-type things, moving at a steady constant rhythm, flowing against each other. I've found I can sometimes see them even when I'm looking at something other than the sky. I know I'm not the only one who can see them, so can anyone enlighten me? Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this, but I think it's kind of a strange subject.

Try looking at the sky when sober. There should be no swirly things.

I was and am sober. I can still see them. I was able to see them since I was little, just never wondered too much about it.

I believe they are little bits of retinal fiber floating in the viscous liquid of your eye. They are normal and everyone gets them, just not everyone notices them.

Hope this helps.

my friends gf said it was plasma that got trapped in between certain layers of your eye when it was forming... so it stays there and you see it when you look out!

Is that what those are?  I've always wondered about that!

You've brightened my day!

Dude, I see them, too (I think)! I always thought I was the only one. I see them like in all outdoor air... but some days it is more so than others. Like... is it almost transclucent matter moving all around? It looks almost like extremely fine mist?

To me it's always looked like molecules floating around in the atmosphere, bumping into each other. I never thought to ask what it was, because I just assumed it was molecules, but wouldn't molecules be hard to see with the human eye? Duh?

yeah theyre like little translucent wormy things, and they do look like little molecules. Well at least there's a reasonable explanation for it. Yay I'm not totally insane.

On second thought, I know what that site is talking about but now I'm not so sure it's the same thing. I've seen those "floaters," but thats more like when you look away from a bright light, and u see a spot that keeps moving. What I was referring to is millions of these little things travelling in and out of my vision as I look in one spot. Perhaps they're just mild "floaters."

THanks, Dankman. One of the pics you posted on that thread has what appear to be fibers in it, which is what I see, and I've gotten more as I've been getting older. But what about the little molecule thingys?

To me, floaters look more like weird looking organisms... when I was young, I thought they were spirits of the insects.

That pic was of sludge water!!! I couldn't find any info on eye floaters so I googled bacteria and went through the image gallery.

LOL!!!  Pretty funny, but you know the little squiggly lines that were in that pic?  That's what I see, when my eyes are closed, and I'm facing the sun.  I know, sounds weird.

I grew up in Huntington Beach.  First started seeing that when I would go to the beach and lie out in the sun.  Well, that's really the only time I see them.

And when I look up into the clear blue sky, it's as if I see little molecules or whatever you guys are calling them.

Okay, laugh your asses off at me, that I see squiggly lines and molecules.  :crazy2:
