Are you a spender or a saver? * 3
    #23299867 - 06/02/16 01:05 PM (7 years, 9 months ago)

Some people make a buck and spend it as soon as they can. Some people haven't even made the buck and it's already gone (some not by choice). But on the flip side, some people are savers. They don't spend unless they have to and some go too far and cheap out so much they suffer from it.

Obviously the first one can very problematic. Living paycheck to paycheck or constant debt. It can be an addictive lifestyle due to the immideate reward of spending.

The second one can also be  problematic if you take it way too far but overall it's the smarter approach. It can even be addictive. Seeing the numbers go up in the bank account but having 0 life.

Which category do you fall into?
Are you a spender or a saver?

I've always been a saver. But as my income has increased I've spent more.

I spend and save as I see fit. Don't really do one more than the other.

I am a saver. I do my best to spend my money towards experiences. Like traveling,or going to music festivals. In the rare occasion of being able to mob up with friends and hit the town and not having the past weeks expenses haunt me.

my money pits are eating out and alcohol. I am working my best to buy food from stores and make my meals at home. My only monthly payments are rent/car insurance/phone.

I save so that I can have seamless transitions in life. Like moving in to a new place, fairly stress free. Or being able to go back to school at a time when I want to without taking a hit that is devastating in my account.  :jah:  :discodance:

money is a stored for of energy and i will be damned if i wasted that energy on some bullshit to be liked by people who rarely even like themselves

I'm a spender with cash - I'll impulse buy stupid shit, but I can and do bargain hunt like a motherfucker so all the stupid impulse buys are usually very small purchases that catch my eye kind of randomly(they add up I know I know), but when it comes to my credit I'm super careful, not in any debt, pay off my credit card balance every month and only use it for controlled, regular purchases or bills that I budget out, cuz the one thing my school did right was give us a finance class where we watched a bunch of Dave Ramsey videos that stressed not spending money you don't have. I'm really glad that idea stuck with me.

My parents are good with money but they didn't really teach me much about finance other than the bare minimum and tbh I grew up a bit spoiled, when my friend, who grew up on a poor farm, and I go shopping together you can definitely see the differences in our shopping habits.

I also try to save 15-20% of my income each month, as I get older I get better about it.

I spend a lot of money when I have it.  I've never been good at saving because there is so much stuff I want and things I want to do.  I like to travel a lot and go out for dinner and drinks, and do drugs.  So I can spend it pretty quick.  But i'm also good at making it too, so it equals out.

One of my good friends had a six figure education for a degree in opera performance.
Actually A LOT of the kids I went to highschool with have six figure degrees from expensive private colleges for stuff like directing, dance, etc. She's lucky because her parents were rich enough to pay for that shit and now she lives on the upper east side in Manhattan even though she's not an opera singer, lucky biatch.

But yeah I think about that too.

It depends. I went two years and saved 80% of each paycheck and ended up with $10k cash.
Then again I also went years where I saved $0.

It all depends if I have a certain goal I'm trying to save for.
