Dehydrator temp advice
    #23187466 - 05/04/16 04:06 AM (7 years, 11 months ago)

Not sure which forum i ought to put this so if wrong im sorry and please feel free to move.

I bought a dehydrator for drying shrooms seems a good one a few layers, but has four temp settings, im not sure if it matters but the settings are;

38 degrees C
48 C
58 C
68 C

Which should i set it to please? Are there temps that will damage them?

Many thanks in advice i know a small issue haha  :hug:

68c is where you'd want it. I run my nesco at 160f/70c and I hope you mean dehydrator not dehumidifier.

I recommend cutting the scene out of a tray or two and use it as a spacer. You can pile your fruits higher and allows for larger fruits to fit.

Ah brilliant cheers :thumbup:

I have two cakes on the go, and have just made a few today to pc later and inoculate tomorrow, so i should be able to put it through its paces in the near future.

Only got some from the mexican so far and they are pretty small fruits, but fruits nonetheless :laugh: my other cake is a gt, will be trying either mazatapec or cambodian with this next batch tomorrow. Still undecided :lol:

Glad to see someone talking in celsius for a change :smile:

You want your mushrooms to be cracker dry as fast as possilbe to prevent the oxidation of the actives and to lock in potency.

Use your max setting. The highest temperature a dehydrator has can't possibly damage the actives because it's been shown that they can withstand much higher temps without issue.

That is a really good idea!! I use short mason jars as spacers but it takes longer because there is a gap
