Anyone into or know of Osho's works? What's this about?

On "positive thinking:"
I'm looking up different ideas on the whole positive thinking movement simply because I have a feeling in my gut that it's a shitty method of living. I whole-heartedly agree with this first article:
http://www.oshonews.com/2011/09/08/positive-thinking-osho/
Now here is the link immediately below that from the Google search (a much quicker read)
http://www.osho.com/meditate/more-meditations/meditation-of-the-week/using-imagination-to-change-negative-to-positive
What the fuck? This is a direct contradiction!!
I know Osho is kind of a seedy guy, he had his controversies and whatnot. To be honest I don't like prescribing to one single "guru" because they're all human and I think your a damn fool to put all your faith into another person, to be frank. I do appreciate some of his work though, because he is one of the few people who just says "be what you really are." I'm utterly sick of the positive thinking self-improvement crowd. There's just something off about it that I can't put my finger on...I digress...
Alan Watts is another person who I appreciate. He too, however, had his issues. He seemed a bit more true to himself though, he admitted he was an entertainer first and foremost.

osho, i believe, was really into tantra.
but if your really into tantra (which is probably the quickest way to mind-body unity) I suggest researching Crowley.
tantra is sort of an esoteric secret --although i have no idea why.

I'm more into his philosophies I guess. I find my spirituality on my own, which usually boils down to watching the squirrels outside my window each morning in my underwear while drinking coffee

Sages often contradict themselves, they also give advice according to the seeker. Some people could do with being told to drop all thinking, good or bad, and just be... others may be best helped by encouraging positive thinking to help lift them out of other mind states.
In my experience of Osho, while providing some moments of clarity, he didn't help to clear my confusion so didn't help to bring any lasting peace, i've also seen this in many of his students who went elsewhere to sit with Papaji or others in Ramanas lineage as unfulfilled seekers. He would often state the simplicity of truth then talk for hours and hours about things he'd read, anecdotes etc... leading you on. Very entertaining but at the end of the day entertainment with a few glimpses of truth, isn't liberating.

I know I'm coming off as an Osho defender, but I've heard him say he just enjoys these things. I don't think he spoke highly of giving it all up.

They renamed Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh Osho to sell more of his books to a younger an unaware audience who weren't around when the 'guru' took over an entire town in Eastern Oregon. The possessor of some 64 Rolls-Royce automobiles and millions is 'donated' assets was pretty much run out of the USA, and for many good reasons IMO. Read The Golden Guru if you want a better take on the man, before you also get taken in by the womanizing, Hitler-admiring psychopath. Any 'Knowledge' that he had to give did not originate with him but can be found in good Yoga treatises. That's where HE took it from. http://www.amazon.com/Golden-Guru-Strange-Journey-Rajneesh/dp/0828906300/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1462042552&sr=8-1&keywords=the+golden+guru The ONLY thing I ever found positive about the man can be found below. There was nothing holy about him, and I knew one individual whose life was seriously disrupted by his presence. She died at a young age incidentally.

Liars and conmen are trying to pull the wool over your eyes deceive you with imagination, a sage is doing the opposite, helping to peel back the veils and reveal reality as it is beyond the mind. There are of course plenty of charlatans with few genuine, and even the genuine ones would agree that they are phonies.

"Even the genuine ones would agree that they are phonies."
Yeah, like the Buddhist monks drunk and playing poker on the floor of their luxury suite. There comes a time, when even the biggest con men must have a little amusement.
Osho was/is a dick head of immense proportions. What's this about? Being a smug know it all "sage" who thinks they know better.

He was a lot more fun than Jim Jones or Ron Hubbard, these guys come in different varieties.
Bubba free John seems to have gone to the East so he could actually be worshiped as a god, that seem to be as out there as it gets.

Osho cashed in on the truth alright. But he knew it. Just goes to show the truth is unconditional. You don't punish yourself with abstinence and general self-denial to realise it. What sort of sadomasochistic situation would we be in?

"he knew it"
I would guess, more likely ...
some of it ...
some of the time
he was also intelligent and a good writer
but definitely not on top of it all , or balanced, IMO
------
so what do you think of a guy like Deepak Chopra?
seems to be a variety that likes money more than followers

All I know of Deepak is that book The Tao of Physics. And I've forgotten most of it. I remember it being pretty solid writing.

On Deepok, he's just someone my gut won't let me get into. Something about him.
Osho gives me that feeling too, but not nearly as much.
I've read multiple times that he views the world as a playground. If you like fancy things, enjoy them
