Welcome. Ideally you want 6500K, although 5000k will certainly do.

You really want that 6500. You probably dont need two. They don't need a lot of light. I use a single 60 watt cfl in a recessed socket and its enough for all my tubs all over the room.
You can totally over saturate your sub with light if its too intense. My shrooms seem to like the ambient light from being in the shade the most. It doesnt have to be intense light. Just uniform and regular.

5000k is the lowest you should go according to RR. He says go 5000k-7500k.

I like http://www.amazon.com. All you have to do is search for "6500K" and you'll see a bunch of light bulbs at that range to choose from. Another is https://www.1000bulbs.com.

Well thanks for the welcome. Seems like a whole lot of very knowledgeable folks here, and I've got a lot to learn yet. Just starting to get into agar as well, not quite over the learning curve yet.

A user asked if he should use a SAB. The answer is (obviously) yes. The mod at /r/mushroomgrowers then lumps a bunch of random things into a category of "all bullshit," which couldn't be further from the truth. While I was active on that sub, I can't tell you how many times I had to troubleshoot some beginner that was trying his methods and failing horribly. Dude pushes shitty teks like they are the bible.

Myctyson proceeded to side with Knotheadtoo, and said I was too argumentative (I'm not argumentative at all...)
thats all I needed to pack my bags and walk away from a community I was helping form

That's unfortunate. Knothead has been notably absent for a few months and nobody knows what happened to him.
It's amazing (and confusing) that there are so many different approaches to this hobby. I'll have to keep learning and keep hearing new ideas and experiment to find what works best for me.
I do currently use a SAB (was a glove box but cut the gloves off on recommendation). I haven't had to flame sterilize a whole lot yet since I've only been injecting agar and bags and always using fresh, sterile needles. (Though of course flame the needles between brief injections).
So far I'm having fair results. This is the third flush of oysters. I am having trouble with lots of aborts and small fruits. I added the lights and more frequent ventilation to hopefully improve that situation. I also have three bags of reishi nearly ready to fruit, a bag of golden oyster rye nearly ready to transfer, a bag of king oyster rye a little ways behind that, and a bag of sawdust and bran with some crippled lion's mane rye that is really limping along. At this point I don't know if it has grey web mold on top or if that's just wispy lion's mane myc.
I've also got a few cubensis grows under my belt a couple years ago.
Anyway, thanks again and looking forward to learning a lot.

huge ego problem. only reason I can think of to call all established teks "bullshit" and rewrite the entire process. When it comes to mycology, the guy was simply trying to reinvent the wheel.. and the motor... and the windshield, and power windows and locks...
