How would a person get started in finding cordyceps in a second growth forest in the Kitsap peninsula and/or The Olympics? Time of year, moister level, insect hatching times....ect?  I've searched and googled around for this question without success. Thanks :pipesmoke:

I had to look up cordyceps to know what you were even talking about. I don't think you're going to find too many experts on this genus.  According to this article, the PNW is the wrong environment:

You're going to have to travel to tropical Asia to find those.  If that is your thing, then have at it.  Personally, I am not too interested if it isn't edible or make me trip.  Cordyceps look gross, imho.

I hear ya! When people first learn about this fungus they tend to do this, :incredible: . Look more into it and you'll see it's another amazing wonder. Here is a link I watched today about Cordyceps.
