My wife and I and some friends are taking a trip in march. We stop in Amsterdam then on to Ireland. I know very little about Ireland other than Guiness and Van Morrison are from there. Anybody know of any cool places to check out ot got any tips for being in Ireland. I know were going to check out the whole country. See some castles and the Guiness factory. Any sugestions or info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Dublin is a very friendly city, well worth a visit, and southern ireland is very scenic and beautifull, corks worth a visit too. although your best bet is to get on a ferry to England

Hey Chinacat I went to Ireland last August. It is a great country and the people are so friendly. Dublin is a great place to check out. I imagine you'll be flying in there. There is a great central park that is cool to walk through. And artists sell all their paintings and such around this area. From Dublin we pretty much slowly made our way down the east coast almost to County Cork, but not quite. There is just so much beautiful countryside to be seen. Beware of the extremely narrow roads. I heard that Galway is the best place to go and party. A native told me that it had a wild side that attracts a younger crowd. I think it might be a big college town but I'm not totally sure on that. I never made it to Galway but it seems to be a popular vacation destination even for the Irish. There are so many great pubs scattered about Ireland. Lots of great beers on tap that you've never heard of in the states. Are you gonna be there on St. Patrick's Day? I wish I had more info but I only spent a few days there and then went to London where, just by accident, Ratdog was playing at the Astoria just blocks away from Grovener's Square.

Oh yeah and I had the best dinner ever in Ireland. It was at a place called The Hungry Monk in a town called Greystones in County Wicklow. They have a wine list of over 500 selections, supposedly the biggest in the country. But it's not a super fancy place. It has a reall homey feel to it. It's an all inclusive dinner where you get your salad, soup, main course and dessert all for one set price. So if they push dessert on you, take it because you're paying for it either way lol. But everything I tasted there was out of this world. If you go, make sure you eat in the upstairs part because I think they serve different food downstairs. It's a bistro downstairs but the main restaurant area is upstairs. It's not the cheapest place to eat but you will walk out of there satisfied I guarantee it. Tell 'em kosmic charlie sent you.

I had a friend on tour many years ago that tried to go a whole fall tour only consuming Guiness for calories. I can't recall if she made it and i'm sure she doesn't remember. I love good beer, but tend to drink in extreme moderation these days. I'll probably make an exeption in Ireland.

Ireland was alot of fun when I was over but I was staying with locals so they knew all the hot spots to hit up. The best attraction by far was the Guinness Brewery, I could have spent all day up there drinking away.....wait..did I?
anyways Dublin is best for shopping cause everything is in Eruo's. Belfast was cool because of all the history, but the best part of it all was the pubs N beer.
If you get the chance stop by the musuem by Queens university its a great little spot!

Cool, my girlfriend and I are going to Amsterdam in March as well, but then I am off to Switzerland for skiing.
When in March are you going?

I'm really jealous. I'm Irish but I've never been there. I'm gonna apply for my citizenship, I qualify because my grandparents are from there. Then I'm going to spend a year there, maybe make it home for a little while and skip over to britain and the continent for short periods of time.
