Im not a big Hip Hop fan at all but I was flippin through my friends CD case and saw the black album and asked him how it was. He said it sounded real "typical"....same old hip hop record. He said JAy-Z has a certain style of rapping that was cool at first but he never really swayed or grew from it and all the verses pretty much sound the same. That was eneouph to convince me to stay away from it.

jay-z has more jazzy music with each album he puts out. To me, this will not be his last album as so many claim. He loves $ too much for this to be his last.
Overall, I'd say this is one of his worst albums yet.
In one of the songs he exclaims:
what else can I say? what else can I do?
Imo, he's exausted his time in the industry and doesnt even know what to do with his lyrics. I found it quite funny that he still continues to make so much money off the black album.

I've always liked Jay-Z but I think his ego is too large for anyone's good.
But he does make sense in some of his lyrics...
And no, I didn't get shot up a whole bunch of times, Or make up shit in a whole bunch of lines, Nor am I so animated as say Busta Rhymes
Then he goes on to saying his influence on pop culture, and what will happen when he "doesn't exist."
Those are big words. Let's see what happens in the future...

Ive persoanlly never liked Jay-Z at all but have definately turned my head for artists such as Dre Dre and I rather like Outkast and Busta Rhymes old shit. As far as eminem and 50 cents.....they pretty much rode the coatails of Dre into the scene. I like eminems style of arranging his lyrics but its not something particualry special Im sure tons of people can do.....He and 50 would be nowhere without Dre.

Nice production on it, and Jay-Z sure knows how to land his voice on beat, but his constant ego inflation gets on me nerves. I like to pound it in the system occasionally. And I think it isn't the end of his music career either, he likes the sound of his voice too much perhaps. I give him due respect tho.

Yea, most rap isn't trip-friendly. One time I was tripping to my Shpongle & these white 'gangsta' kids were like "whats this crap? lemme show you some _music_!" and on goes... I think it was DMX or a contemporary. I left the room with my Shpongle CD in hand. I don't like exposing my impressionable brain to such overt agression in such a state. Haha, it was crazy later that night those kids beat the shit out of a friend of theirs because they were drunk. Needless to say I didn't kick it with them much...
