Inocybe calamistrata in Maine! (also, MO etiquette)
    #21872894 - 06/29/15 10:59 AM (8 years, 8 months ago)

So I know this probably isn't the real Inocybe calamistrata, but this mushroom keyed out to it in Mushrooms Demystified, although it doesn't smell fishy. It smells kinda like carrots right after you pull them out of the ground, or at least how I remember that smelling. MOre accurately, it smells like Simocybe centunculus. It has scales on the cap and stem, was growing near white pine and eastern red cedar, and bruised dingy greenish-blue on the stem. AFAIK this is the first record of any bluing Inocybe for Maine so I'm pretty excited. Here ya go:

Also, I was wondering, if you find a mushroom on private property, do you think it's a good idea to list the address on MO or would it be a better idea just to list the town?

Correction: there's an MO observation for I. calamistrata in Maine already, but I'm still pretty psyched.
