What do you mean with sp. ? Do you take also wedges ? I have heard that pleurotus prints are very often sterile, but I doubt that. Does anybody know more about that ?

I think this is in the wrong forum. You might have better luck in the marketplace.

If a mushroom is sterile it will not produce spores, no print. This would be a good thing for the oyster mushroom industry. I don't know exactly how many, but some people that are exposed to a lot of oyster mushroom spores develope an alergy to the spores.

Is it also possible that a mushroom produces spores, but the spores do not germinate at all ?

Or a second case:
The spores germinate and you are able to get enough myc, but the myc does not produce fruit bodies ?

I'm sure most Oyster sp do produce spores, though i think Pleurotus ostreatus var Florida doesn't? or so i have heard.

I have also read that some species grown in enclosed spaces can be quite dangerous due to the huge ammount of spores released...im guessing var Florida it was enginerred in responce to this?

ohh and btw i have sourced some prints.

Both things are possible. If it made mycellium I'd call it fertile. if it made spore that wouldn't grow I don't know.
