to dunk or not to dunk
    #2168075 - 12/08/03 02:19 AM (20 years, 3 months ago)

I'm bored, and i just thought that i would post this question. i'be been reading a lot about "dunking" lately. i've been growing mushrooms for about 6 years now, and have never dunked my cakes. when i would grow a cake a would just set it on top of the perlite and i always got good results. i would usually recieve 2-3 decent flushes. is dunking a better solution to this? and if so, should a dunked caked be placed directly on top of perlite?

- also my perlite had H2O2 in it.

I have also started to use the dunk & roll recently. I have found it to be very beneficial. I even dunk, cold shock, and roll before the first flush. The cold shocking has greatly sped up the time it takes to form pins.

dunking rehydrates the cakes, coldshocking stops the growth of mycelium and initiates pinning. rolling them in verm gives te cakes an added source to draw water and whatnot from

6 years and no dunking?! You should definatly try dunking a few cakes and compare the results to some cakes you didn't dunk. You'll be pleasently surprised.
