pins on pins
    #2148072 - 11/30/03 10:10 PM (20 years, 4 months ago)

I just posted my first time grow, and some commented that pins on pins was weird. Are they safe to eat?

Flush1 pictures

Is it ok to 'Dunk' the cakes after my first harvest?

Do i have to pluck all the fruits off before i dunk?

Thanks

yes i am a newbie and have never grown but hear me out... i think that the green color on the cakes and green fuzz on the mushrooms looks like some kinda mold. i know some types of mold can infect a cake/mushroom and eating it can be poisionus... in a bad way. sorry if this was coverd in another topic. just my opinion do some research before you eat those if you eat them at all.

Wow, I've never seen that happen before!

They should be perfectly safe to eat. The green/blue on the cake and mushrooms looks like bruising and not any kind of mold.

Like i just said in your other post, you might want to make sure that the ones with the black caps (aborted mushrooms) aren't rotted.

Yeah, that's pretty friggin awesome! But Angry is right, just throw the black ones out. I once knew a guy who had a pin growing directly off the top of another pin. It never rotted, but I still wonder how it reversed itself and continued to grow into 2 (1?)full mushroom. Stills, your is the coolest I have ever seen! I think it is cause by high humidity. The mycelium grows up the stems, and on yours, started more pins. Totally awesome, though.

yes, pluck off all the fruits before you dunk, though i would just let them fruit, not dunk or coldshcock, just let them finish going through their flushes, you should just mist the cakes, after you pick off all the fruits, and then fruit them again

The cakes look like they are blueing (which is normal when the growing conditions are too moist/humid) just make sure that it isn't a contam (smell it!) They're all fine to ingest, but again make sure the aborts with the really black caps aren't rotten (if they're slimey, smelly, mushie or otherwise not attractive to eat, then don't take a chance.)

pin on pin action!!!!!!!

i think you shrooms are lookin pretty wierd, if you use something to seperate the cake from the perlite on the bottom they will not get so watter logged, i think your problem is with the cakes soaking up too much water.
