P. Eryngii bottles **Update 1st Post**

What's up everyone. Gonna make P. Eryngii bottles inspired by Muda's bottle tek. Thought I'd make a thread and keep it updated.
Cutting wheat

I am cutting wheat into small pieces the slow way (scissors) into quart jars. My plan is to put the straw in a bucket, pour boiled oats over the straw and let it soak until it cools down enough to handle. I will use an LI made from an agar plate to inoculate the jars.

Finished cutting the wheat, then I poured the 2 quarts of boiling oats on top of the wheat in a bucket, added a couple of tablespoons of spent espresso, waited for it to cool enough to handle, then mixed very well and put it through a cycle in the PC of 1 hour and 30 minutes at 15 PSI. I also threw in the water for the LC in the PC cycle with the jar blender lid. Update 3/2/2015
Blended LI

Inoculated around 10cc of LI per jar via large (60cc) pre sterilized syringes then shook very well

Some Progress (3/7/2015)

Yeah I'm sterilizing now. My bad, a mod can move it if they are around. Didn't think it'd be such a big deal, I thought cult was cult

You should use something with the straw. starw alone works great but it contams quick and looses water even quicker.

Too late now, jars are loaded and pressure is building. If it fails, oh well. I will have sawdust next time from a local mill.

no, it wont fail. you will get some fruit. You would just get "better" fruits with slightly hardier substrate. Straw is fine but in such little amounts i dont think it will yield to much.

It still is cultivation both forums should be merged into one there are a lot of similar techniques used on edibles and actives. just seems to make more sense to share Ideas. But for the OP maybe look up a laundry basket TEK in edibles. For eatin mushrooms you want a large yield. No offense to muda but growing any kind of Oyster in jars seems counter productive.

I wouldn't say counterproductive if I used the correct substrate. Why would massive operations use bottles for King O?

Because through huge capital investment they can afford to automate large chunks of the cultivation process and so save on expensive labour costs...

Alright thanks for the advice guys, I will invest in some mycobags when I get sawdust. I realize it's not the most efficient way of doing it, but how can it be counterproductive? It seems like it's a subjective thing.

This might interest you
We're currently growing Kings in saco2 bags which we then empty out into tubs, 12kg to a tub, cased with standard casing mix. Good results!

Blended up an LI

Inoculated the jars after they were PCed for 1 hour and 30 minutes at 15 PSI

I forgot to mention that I added a minute amount of spent espresso to the mix. About two tablespoons

bottles are a great way to grow kings. maybe not some other species of oyster even still bottles do great for other species as well.
Sawdust is fine on it's own if you want to push the limits and get more than say 150% BE you might want to consider supplements. there's a fair amount of grain in there compared to spawning a log for instance so right there the grain is like a supplement.
you're one step ahead of the peanut gallery already, I think your grow will go just fine cant wait
