    #21198599 - 01/29/15 07:39 PM (9 years, 1 month ago)

So I was told by the local hydro store owner he has picked up peruvian torch from walmart and other stores as ornamental cactii.

Looking for some help identifying these as they look awfully simmilar!

Both appear to be Stetsonia coryne and they are definitely not 'Peruvian torches'.

The hydro guy shouldn't make things up and sell them as things they aren't. I'd get your money back or at least hit him up about selling plants that aren't what he claims they are.

he doesn't sell the plants i got them at walmart  and it's the only plant the cats won't fuck with anyways  figured it was worth a shot as they look simmilar to me.

according to the net the spices you listed contains psychoactive alkaloids as well.  Any experience with this cactii? They stock them quite a bit locally

Ha. I didn't read that original post of yours too well did I...Yeah, you can certainly find active Trichocereus at big chain stores that carry cactus. Especially in the US.

A lot of cactus contain alkaloids just not in high enough amounts to be useful. You'd need a truckload of cactus for a dose.

Disclaimer: My mind cannot remember every percentage of alkaloid in every cactus so you'd need to confirm for yourself if you'd need a truck load to get high from it. I do know it's not much and you'd need a lot.

:ilold:

Now why would anyone want to eat so much cacti? :confused2:

Go with a nice trichocereus bridgesii. Peruvian torch is really hit and miss as far as alkaloidal content goes. Bridgesii is more consistent.
