Rye flour instead of BRF
    #2104917 - 11/14/03 03:28 AM (20 years, 4 months ago)

so we all know that rye berries produce more potent mushrooms than brf.
so why not grind up some rye berries into a flour and use that in the pf tek instead of brf?

it seems to me that it could work in theory, has anyone had any expierence with this matter of RYE FLOUR?

well...
give it a try and tell us then
but you'll have very similar results. And you don't have to grind it, in the same place I buy brf I also buy rye flour, corn flour whatever

the asshole down the street, when he did do cakes many years ago, always used about a 50/50 brf and rye flour.
He just liked it.
It didnt seem to be any different in strength.
All rye flour and no brf didnt work so well.

I've been working with millet and rye flower. It seems to produce a much more shakeable subtrate. Especially the rye, and it is my favorite. I found it in the health food section at win-dixie.

in the past, i used a 50:50, as well as 25:75, rye flour/brf mix and i noticed no difference at all in the growing stages or potency. the use of rye flour did save a good bit of money though.

i tried making some 100% rye cakes. 2 out of 10 didn't even colonize.
that was a one time experiment. it wasn't necessarily the use of rye that caused them not to colonize; other factors could have played a part.

experiment and let us know how it turns out.
