Ultrasound Tech

Been out of school for about 4 years. Started doing Biochemistry, realized that unless I do grad school, it's a useless ass degree and I had a psychotic break that ended me in a psych ward.

Thinking about going back to school to be an ultrasound tech. They top out around 85-90k and start at near $30. In my state though it tops around 65k

Helluvalot better than what I'm doing now!

40% job increase from 2010-2020.

Seems like a good gig where I am near guaranteed a job if I agree to be willing to move.

Just... not sure whether or not to do it. Already $24k in debt because of university.

What say you shroomy folk

Go for it man, it'll be a good career. I considered it myself, but chose a different field in healthcare that was more involved in treatment.

My ex is an occupational therapist!

I had to do some of that at the psych ward, occupational therapy.

We did coloring and stuff like that.

That's about all I know bout it though.

Right on. Here's the AOTA definition; Clicky. Basically it's a holistic approach to therapy; treating the whole person to increase functional independence. We work on anything & everything that people do throughout the day, and retrain/train our patients' minds & bodies in order to facilitate their participation in daily activities. It's a real rewarding field! I work in pediatrics. :awesome:
