George W Bush: Religious maniac
    #2075900 - 11/06/03 01:16 AM (20 years, 4 months ago)

I don't like it when powerful people like George mention God. It creeps me right out. How do you guys feel about politicians doing things in the name of God? At what point does it make you uncomfortable if it does at all?

Bush's words don't creep me out. It's his actions that I'm afraid of.

Bush is addicted to religion and uses it to justify his evil works. Such a trait is typical to fanatics.

George Bush professes religious idioms for the support of powerful people. Lot's of political organizations do this. Religious radicals often use theological ideas to sway the common citizen. Bush isn't a saint by any means, he's just riding the religious wave my friends.

If it is a religous government then not at all. If it is a supposedly secular government that is suppose to keep a seperation of church and state then yes it is a contradiction.

he can talk up god all he wants, it's pretty
obvious based on his actions that he is
not the religious man that he claims to be.

The danger I feel from this is that, when you are a Christian, the devil is constantly trying to get to you. Especially in your christian infancy, like when you find God after being a partying alcoholic oilman. GWB was told that he was a leader, the next Moses, by one of those wacky assholes (pat robertson, falwell, etc).

I think about what that does to you, as a person. To be told you are this great leader and then to ascend from nothing into the president of the united states, it could be some pretty heavy stuff for such an unstable mind. I fear that when Bush talks about God, he feels like he is engaged in some type of war for God, not just against Muslims, but against "evil" people everywhere.

I'm a Christian and it is super duper eerie to me.

That's my take on him as well.

To call humans 'rational beings' does injustice to the term, 'rational.'  Humans are capable of rational thought, but it is not their essence.  Humans are animals, beasts with complex brains.  Humans, more often than not, utilize their cerebrum to rationalize what their primal instincts, their preconceived notions, and their emotional desires have presented as goals - humans are rationalizing beings.

Don't forget Rumsfeld!

Rummy's twice the fanatic that G Dub is, only I don't hear him say 'god' as much.

Very Creepy.

Ashcroft.. oh dear Ashcroft.

Have you heard of the Heritage Foundation? It's a think tank. Cheney likes to give speeches at the think tank.
http://www.heritage.org/Research/MiddleEast/HL802.cfm

Here's a clip:
"Since 9/11, we've learned much more about what these enemies intend for us. One member of al-Qaeda said 9/11 was the "beginning of the end of America." And we know to a certainty that terrorists are doing everything they can to gain even deadlier means of striking us. From the training manuals we found in the caves of Afghanistan to the interrogations of terrorists that we've captured, we have learned of their ambitions to develop or acquire chemical, biological, or nuclear weapons. And if terrorists ever do acquire that capability--on their own or with help from a terror regime--they will use it without the slightest constraint of reason or morality.

That possibility, the ultimate nightmare, could bring devastation to our country on a scale we have never experienced. Instead of losing thousands of lives, we might lose tens of thousands, or even hundreds of thousands of lives in a single day of war. Remembering what we saw on the morning of 9/11, and knowing the nature of these enemies, we have as clear a responsibility as could ever fall to government: We must do everything in our power to keep terrorists from ever acquiring weapons of mass destruction."

I like John Ashcroft's speech before the Heritage Group and other think tank organizations. It's a great listen, all full of Biblical references to David and Goliath and ending with how we are the city on the hill:

bush will use whatever he feels he needs to oppress every person on the planet.Be it religion, terrorist, democracy.being a "religious manic" gives him a certian appeal to the rest of the fanitics.the only thing that scares me more then the damage he's already caused in these last four years,is what he will do if we the people do not vote him out

It doesnt matter.

If we vote him out we are going to still get the Think Tank crafted president. It's all media and propaganda control. The think tanks create the thoughts for the government.

They all sit around and weave theories of possibilities. And then some moron with an agenda reads them, weeds through them and decides that it's the path for our country to take. Because it fits with their corporate/religious/and socio-political beliefs.

Im sure it isnt just one person. It's a group of people. I think that's what makes it inherently worse, there isnt one clear egomaniac, there are several, with their own personal goals. But the overwhelming theme is, we will win at whatever costs, and we will put the structure in place to withstand tha backlash.

I have some hope if Howard Dean wins the nomination. If Wesley Clark does, we are Fucked, either way. Bush or Clark, they both come from the same beast.

He's involved with NED:

When people(at least educated people) refer to the separation of church and state, they are referring to the establishment clause and the free exercise clause, which in effect, when put together, create somewhat of a separation between church and state.

Right. Sure.

It should be, government has no buisness as government, dabbling in religon. If they want to thump bibles on their own time that's their business. Seperation of church and state is a term that has been parroted so many times that many believe it. There is no ambiguity in the wording. Congress may not start, endorse, or stop any religon.

Nothing more, nothing less.

Many people are indeed confused about what separation of church and state means. That doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.
