Cool or Fake?

How does everyone feel about spirituality/energy/holistic tools?
Here's some that I've tried:
The Egely Wheel-measures qi (or chi, your preference): http://www.mind-course.com/wheelform.html
The Pyradome-promotes general health: http://www.dreamexplorers.com/catalog3030.html
Chakra wands-For assistance in balancing chakras: http://www.metaphysicalrealm.com/wands2.html
Finally, there is something that my brother has told me about but that I have not had too much time to research. Apparently, Dr. Bob Beck (who is now dead) created a machine that electrifies the blood and was able to virtually eliminate the HIV virus in all of his test subjects. This is going to sound like a conspiracy theory, but it makes sense. Allegedly, the government stiffled all research into it because of how much money doctors and drug companies make from AIDS. Today, to even buy the machine, you have to buy a "plant enhancer;" in order to sell this, they have to pretend it is used to assist the growth of plants. The machine is mailed to you in seperate parts to keep from being intercepted by the government. I know, it sounds crazy, but you should look into it: http://www.nw.com.au/~keane/healing/06AIDS/2Search.htm
These are just some examples, I know there's hundreds of other holistic and spiritual tools.

Yeah, I'm sure the bottom example is possible, but I would really research it well first. The medical community has a history of trying to keep down new cures for ailments they greatly profit off, even back to things like Hoxey's Cure.
But, you have to be careful because there are also con people like Helda Rueger Clark that actually fuck you up worse than you started.

Well, I'm not too concerned on a PERSONAL level, since I don't have AIDS, but I'd love to see more research on this stuff.

Remember the general truths that abound in the distributation of goods- the higher the price- the more flappery and salesmanship to introduce the product- the less the item is actually worth. Remember that as their end of the scale rises- so does yours collapse.

I know that the Egely wheel accurately measures some sort of life energy, call it what you will. I would tell any skeptic to use it and to explain to me what else could make it move. The AIDS thing I wasn't referring to spiritually, just bringing it up because I thought it was interesting.

If you're sure that the Egely wheel measures some sort of life energy, you can make a million $$$: http://www.randi.org/research/challenge.html

if the egely wheel measures life energy, i want to give it a try with reiki. i'm first level, i could easily find a 2nd level and master level to test against, and someone with no attunements for it. It should be a completely different result for each.

Why not make a million $$$ with your life energy? If life energy is measurable, why isn't it scientific? I always thought it was not scientific because it's not measurable. Conclusion: The wheel doesn't measure life energy....

^true. i hadn't thought about it, just posted quickly. life energy is not measurable. it's infinite, ever changing, growing, shrinking, always evolving.

Okay, perhaps a better question would be, "If it doesn't measure life energy, then what does it measure?" Not heat, not magnetism, not wind, and it's not powered by batteries.

Give a scientist that stupid wheel and he will tell you within one day what it "measures".
I can't tell because I don't know anything about the wheel.
Why has nobody ever won that million? Because nobody can show anything spiritual if scientist are nearby .

Define "scientist." There are paranormal psychologists who study this stuff all the time. The egely wheel has been put through many scientific tests, actually. If "you don't know anything about the stupid wheel," then maybe you should do some research before you write it off.

You don't understand what chi is, that's why you think that wheel works.

Hi asshole, I don't think I've ever met you.
So how do you know what I understand? Why don't you tell me what you think Chi is? As I posted above, I believe the wheel measures some sort of life energy, maybe not the "Chi" you refer to.
So smarty pants, enlighten me.

And you also didn't answer the question. If it doesn't measure life energy, what is it that causes the wheel to move?

what is it that causes the wheel to move?
voodoo black magic.. I haven't seen the device and played with it so obviously I can't answer this.
I know you don't understand what chi is because if you understood it you'd know that it isn't an absolute thing that can be quantified.
you can measure it sometimes: Alchohol is said to scatter the chi (in TCM terms). Chi in this case would be the exchange of carbon dioxide and oxygen, and this aspect of the chi in the blood would be somewhat measurable. You could say the blood is X amount thinner because of the blood alchohol level. But could you relate this to every other type of chi in the body and produce one number that shows the level of chi? Nope that would be ridiculous. Chi is too complex.
Maybe the device measures bioelectric magnetism, which is a kind of chi, but that's only one piece of the big picture, not a general reading of "life energy"
that's the short version of why that little machine is worthless (in that it can't possibly do what it claims) and because you believe the machine might have some merit, it means that you do not understand what chi is.
