Should be ok, how exactly are you going to clone it? Macerate it and put it in honeywater? The only downside is its one less shrooms =/

the downside would be that you dont know how the shroom was going to turn out. and now, you have a whole bunch of the samw thing.

please correct me if i am wrong but
the whole idea of cloning is to produce multiple mushrooms with characteristics that are favorable, so if a monster sized shroom is favorable you would clone that in order to obtain more mushrooms just like it.
you definatly would not want to clone an immature mushrooms for the reason automan gave, u dont know what that mushrooms characteristics are yet, u never know it could abort, u wouldnt want a whole bunch of mushrooms that are going to abort would u?. -well some might say they would but thats a whole different topic.

Every shroom is slightly different and if you have one growing that you really like, use that one. If you wanted to go for speed maybe clone the fasted developing. If you want size, clone the largest. That is the beauty of growing your own. You can choose what you want, and exploit it. But you should wait until it is ready to harvest so you know what you are getting.
good luck

not that i dont value your guys statements, id like a mod to back them up, or one of the other gurus to give me some backing, and i thought the all the mushrooms have all the same genetics pretty much. should it be a better idea to take a chunk of my casing and blend that

why dont u just do a search on cloning then and find the info for yourself... -- please please please mods dont take offense to this -- but just cuz they are a mod doesnt mean they are anymore knowledgable at cultivation. in fact i rarely see a mod reply to a simple cultivation question, besides shirley that is. Mods arent mods b/c they are oh so experienced (in some cases this is may be true) but b/c they have been chosen to moderate the posts in a forum, to make sure the post is appropriate. ----------------------------- mushrooms dont all have the same genetics unless u are growing a clone. spores contain genetic material germinate grow and mate with other germinated spores. if all mushrooms of a species had the same genetics they would all turn out the same and that would leave no need for cloning. this also applies to spores of a cloned mushroom as well. perhaps you skipped over the life cycle of a mushroom heres a link: http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/3366
