newb.casing question?

how to yall layer your casings. do you just put your substrate directly on the bottom of your casing disk and then but mixture on top? or do you put a little on the bottom?

sorry my first post is kinda scetchy. what i want to know is how many layer and how?. substrate then 50/50 or 50/50-substrate-50/50
or perlite- sub.-50/50. i have read all the FAQ's. someone please help me out and give me some advise.

the way i did it was wet verm on bottom, crumbled cake, then 50/50 verm peat moss on top. nuked each layer (except cake) for 2 minutes, let cool, then 2 minutes again.

thanks for the help. micro i think that what i am going to do. i am going to but my case in a 5 gallon bucket. do you think i will need any parlite in there?

perlite can put too much moisture in the air if you have the space put some in a container of some sort maybe a bowl or somthing this is what I do it works well for me keeps the RH right where I want it and its not nearly as messy either

it depends on the container after a week or so you will get the feel for it I mist if it looks dry lets say you live navada you will need to mist more

what are you gonna case with? I recomend coir/verm for your first run the coir really indicates moisture well when it starts to dry out you can see it get very light compared to the optimum moisture content I dont pasturize it either and I have had few problems.
but what ever you do will help experience is better than anything I can tell you. Jst think this way a failure is a good lesson even though its a drag.
A final note :casings are easy and near failsafe if you are somewhat clean while putting them together.
