Sterilization of plastic jars

Being in the UK I am finding it very hard to get hold of glass mason jars; but during my hunting I came across some 250ml "tupperware" containers. They are round, and tapered, and also have a tight fitting lid with rubberseal which is completely air tight. They are also quite robust, and the lid is quite thick plastic so I remain hopefull.
My only problem is; how do I sterilize them? Through reading the various FAQ's I have come to the conclusion that the only way I can do it is through microwaving. I'm only guessing, but I think boiling or pressurecooking them would melt the plastic.
I have heard rave reviews, and also the complete opposite, regarding microwaving PF TEK jars - is there a definate answer? My plan is not to case for my first few harvests until I can get caking down to an art. If microwaving is the way for me to go, which is the best method to use? My plan was to place the empty plastic jar with lid on (holes punched in top of lid) on a plate with a few mm of water on it. Microwave it for 10mins. Then add substrate. Put lid on, cover lid with foil, put on plate of water and microwave for 8mins, shaking it up a bit a few times mid-cook.
Does that sound okay?
Thanks

Glass cups eh? I read that somewhere. So once my cake is in there with a layer of verm on top, should I cover the top of the glass at all? And can I pressure-cook a glass cup full of substrate if it doesnt have a lid?

Yes to all of your questions. Use tinfil with a couple of holes as a lid. Then cover the foil with a coffee filter and a rubber band.

PaC- If you are going to nuke foil you will to ruin your microwave. Try to find something other than metal to cover your jars with, unless you like cold leftovers.
I didn't read the whole thread, but that might help you; http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat...&PHPSESSID= good luck

UK growers looking for glass jars can either go to a supermarket and buy Bonne Mamann jam (?1.19 a pot but v tasty) or use drinking glasses as in Anno's tek:
www.fungifun.org/pf
most sourcing problems have been dealt with by the UK growers here on the board - just ask.
