Splitting cakes maybe?

So say you innoculate 1 pint cakes as opposed to 1/2 pint. After they colonized, could it simply be split in half? I would like to cut several cakes in half, birth some of the halves, and try to case the other halves. Would this be possible?

Also, colonization usually takes place in glass jars. Could one use a plastic tubberware container (properly sterilized), PC it, and then use it to colonize?

Yes, you can cut the cakes in half. I believe a tek called sea of shrooms relies on this, with the basic idea being 2 cakes, twice as many shrooms.

As long as the container is sterilized, i see no reason why colonization wouldnt take place.
