Cakes Cased in Non Sterile Planters

1) Soak houseplant to capacity in sink.
2) Let it drain
3) Bury cakes in your house plant and leave it alone.

Here is the question at hand. Does the mycelium really need STERILE Casings?
Skip has had cakes green mold in sterilized casing mix but this ordinary Houseplant in his living room grew splendidly

Mushrooms sure are amazing creatures.

No the casing doesn't need to be sterile, but pasteurizing helps out.
