Confused on soaking!

Ok, say my quart jar recipe calls for 175 grams wild bird seed and 130 grams water and a smige of gypsum. So I combined 175g dry seed and 130g water for each jar and let it soak overnight, right?. I dont get if the ammount of soaking water matters. Like am I supposed to just soak it fully submerged in a any ammount of water, rinse and let drain completely in a collander AND THEN it becomes a science where I weigh out 175 grams soaked seed with the 130 grams water in each jar??? Obviously the grains add weight after being soaked or boiled so you can see where Im confused.

Could someone tell me the ammount in grams of how much water and wild bird seed they use per quart? And wether the weight is pre soaked or soaked?

either dry grain + measured water > jar in pc ....... or ....... soaked/simmered grain, drained, loaded in jars, +/- extra water and pced.

experiment. the extra time is definitely worth it, as perfectly hydrated grain colonises super-quick, and so also gets contaminated less.
