I burned a hole in my pressure cooker!!!
    #1941775 - 09/22/03 05:30 PM (20 years, 6 months ago)

i just bought a brand fucking new aluminum Presto pressure cooker. i was sterilizing some jars, and noticed that it had been a while since i put them on, and the rocker hadn't started moving at all or making any noise, then i started smelling something burning, lifted up the pressure cooker and saw melted metal on the stove element. FUCK.....i hope walmart will take it back...

yeah they will my roomate and I blew up a 8 qt pressure cooker and fried the gasket... Just put it back in the box and tell them that your girlfriend, mom, etc said it wasn't big enough and for you to take it back and deny everything if they actually check inside the box!

A new Presto cooker should have a warranty in the box. I would say that the damn thing melting under normal use would definately fall under the warranty. Check that out before you go trying to be all tricky and shit.

I just bought a presto pressure cooker today and it has a 12 year limited warranty so U should be cool. I mean it's not like U threw it at the wall, U were cooking on the stove w/ it if they try to tell U they won't replace it just speak to the manager....I work in retail and believe me they will do it for U if U demand it!

Hmm, my mink bought a presto PC a few weeks ago and he said he noticed he smelled something like burning rubber on the 1st run. The PC definitely worked, I wonder how much longer it will last.

On second thought....Try and return it where U bought it but looking over the warranty it says it's void if "abuse or misuse(including overheating and boiling the unit dry)" is practiced. If they won't give U an exchange than U can try to send it to Presto but I'm gonna have to say they won't hook it up w/ a new one since U probabaly were negligent...hate to rain on your parade.

yah but you dont HAVE to tell them you were negelegent.  my guess is that people at walmart dont know shit about pressure cookers and you could get another one.  assuming that you were neglegent and forgot to use water or something :spliff:
